Statement situation Middle East

Wednesday, 4th March 2026

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and KLM are currently preparing to operate another repatriation flight from the Middle East to the Netherlands. Details of the flight will be announced as soon as possible.

The flight is intended for stranded travelers residing in the Netherlands who are staying in the region. Travelers who wish to participate can register with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs via the Crisis Contact Form on the website. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will then determine who is eligible for the available seats and contact them. The ministry advises travelers to only come to the airport after receiving confirmation. This is due to the security situation.

Flights will, of course, only be operated if circumstances permit. The safety of passengers and crew is always paramount.

Turkey extends flight suspensions amid escalating Middle East conflict

Monday, 2nd March 2026

We are monitoring developments in the Middle East airspace in real time.

Due to ongoing risks in the region, we have taken new decisions regarding certain flights, adopting an approach that prioritizes passenger and flight safety.

Flights to Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan have been cancelled until March 6, 2026, while all scheduled flights to Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates have been cancelled until March 3, 2026. Pegasus Airlines will also not operate flights to Iran until March 12, 2026.

Flights to Saudi Arabia’s cities of Riyadh, Jeddah, and Medina, as well as to Oman, can be operated today.

We are evaluating the process daily and taking all necessary steps decisively in accordance with conditions.

Turkish Airlines suspends flights to 10 Middle East countries after US, Israeli strikes on Iran

Saturday, 28 February 2026

Turkish Airlines suspended flights to 10 countries in the Middle East on Saturday after Israel and the United States launched strikes on Iran, prompting multiple countries in the region to close their airspace.

“Flights to Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran and Jordan have been cancelled until March 2,” Turkish Airlines spokesman Yahya Üstün wrote on X. Flights to Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Oman were suspended for the day.

The carrier did not say when operations would return to normal for all destinations. Airlines often suspend routes during regional crises because of airspace restrictions and safety concerns.

Turkish Airlines urged passengers to follow its announcements for updates as schedules can change quickly during disruptions.
