Travel Advisory: Cancellation of Flights to/from Doha, Jeddah and Madinah (28 February – 1 March 2026)

Due to the temporary closure of airspace in parts of the Middle East, Malaysia Airlines has cancelled selected flights to and from Doha, Jeddah and Madinah between 28 February and 1 March 2026 as a precautionary measure.

Affected guests are being notified directly and assisted with alternative travel arrangements. Passengers are advised to update their contact details via “My Booking” at malaysiaairlines.com for timely updates.

Cancellation of flights operations

Due to multiple regional airspace closures, Emirates has temporarily suspended all operations to and from Dubai up until 1500hrs UAE time on Monday, 2nd March.

The Disruption Handling Policy allows free re-booking and re-routing options for passengers traveling up to 5th March who may rebook their travel anytime up to 20th March to destinations within the same region and in any RBD within the same compartment.

Refund is applicable on unused flight coupons and cancellation charges are waived.

Regional airspace closures continue to impact Etihad Airways’ operations, and all flights to and from Abu Dhabi are suspended until 02:00 UAE time on Monday 2 March.

The flight status page on etihad.com may temporarily display original scheduled timings. Updated departure and arrival times will be reflected as soon as they are confirmed.

Etihad continues to work in close coordination with the relevant authorities and will resume normal operations as soon as conditions permit.

Operations update March 1 2026 – Qatari Airspace closure

Qatar Airways flight operations remain temporarily suspended due to the closure of Qatari airspace.

Qatar Airways will resume operations once the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority announces the safe reopening of Qatari airspace. A further update will be provided on March 2 by 09:00 Doha time (06:00 UTC).

Cathay Group Suspends Middle East Operations starting 01 March 2026

Monday, 2nd March 2026

In view of the developing situation in the Middle East, Cathay Pacific has suspended all operations in the Middle East starting 01 March 2026, including passenger services to and from Dubai and Riyadh. Flights typically passing over the affected area are being rerouted.

We are waiving rebooking and rerouting charges for the affected customers to give them greater flexibility. Customers are advised to check our website cathaypacific.com and adjust their travel plans.

Advisory on Singapore Airlines flights affected by the geopolitical situation in the Middle East

Due to the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, the following Singapore Airlines (SIA) flights will be cancelled from 28 February to 7 March 2026:

  •  SQ494 departing Singapore for Dubai
  • SQ495 departing Dubai for Singapore

As the situation remains fluid, other SIA flights may be affected. Customers may visit SIA’s Flight Status page for the latest information on their flights.

Customers affected by the flight cancellations will be reaccommodated on alternative flights or can seek a full refund of the unused portion of their ticket. SIA customers who booked directly with us may use our Assistance Request Form to seek the refund. For bookings made through travel agents or partner airlines, customers are advised to contact their travel agent or purchasing airline directly for assistance.

Customers are also strongly advised to update their contact details via the ‘Manage Booking’ function on our website or subscribe to a mobile notification service to receive updates to their flight status.

SIA apologises to all affected customers for the inconvenience caused.

Update on the Middle East

There is currently no impact to Qantas operated flights, including flights between Singapore and London.

We are closely monitoring the evolving situation and any potential impact to our flights.

The safety of our customers and crew is our highest priority, and where necessary we may adjust our flight paths accordingly. If your Qantas-operated flight is affected, we will contact you as soon as possible using the phone number and email address provided in your booking.

Call volumes

We’re currently experiencing higher than usual call volumes. Please only contact us if your travel is imminent.

Flexibility for our customers

We’re offering additional flexibility for customers who have booked flights to/from or via the UAE, Qatar, Israel, Jordan and Oman through Qantas on partner airlines.

If you wish to change your booking or no longer wish to travel, you can access a fee-free refund, fee-free Flight Credit (fare difference may apply) or fee-free date change for flights booked on or before 1 March 2026 for travel between 28 February and 5 March 2026 (when rebooking to travel on or before 20 March 2026, subject to availability).

If you’ve booked directly with Qantas, contact us to discuss your options, including a refund.

If you’ve booked through a travel agent or another airline and you’re travelling:

  • within the next 3 days, and your flight has been cancelled you can contact us for flight changes. For refunds, speak to your travel agent directly.

Recent developments in the Middle East are affecting our flights. Due to the security situation, we have cancelled all flights to and from Tel Aviv, Dubai, Riyadh, and Dammam through March 5, 2026. Current military situation in the Middle East

Because of the current military situation in the Middle East, all flights to and from Dubai (DXB) and Tel Aviv (TLV) are currently suspended. If you are in either of these regions, please do not head to the airport. Your safety is our top priority.

We have revised our ticketing policy to make it easier for customers travelling on an affected flight to make changes to their booking without penalty, space permitting. If your flight is affected, you can retrieve your booking to change your flight free of charge.

In view of the continuing situation in the Middle East, Air India has extended the suspension of all flights to and from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Qatar until 2359 hrs IST on 2 March 2026.

Additionally, select flights to Europe scheduled on 2 March 2026 have been cancelled, along with the scheduled return legs of these flights:

• AI117: Amritsar > Birmingham
• AI151/AI152: Delhi < > Zurich
• AI157/AI158: Delhi < > Copenhagen
• AI114: Birmingham > Delhi

All other flights to North America and Europe will operate per schedule using alternative routings over available airspaces in the Middle East, which is expected to add to the flying times. Additionally, flights to New York (JFK) and Newark (Liberty International) will operate with technical stops at Rome (Fiumicino Airport).

Air India continues to closely monitor the situation and has carefully assessed the evolving circumstances across multiple parameters, including safety, security, airspace availability, and operational feasibility, before deciding on these operations for 2 March 2026. We will share updates, based on further assessments, at an appropriate time.
